From the bottom of the South Carolina’s Low Country, emerges and artist like the Carolina’s have never seen. With deep soulful lyrics and stunning delivery this is one artist you don’t want to miss out on. Carolina Slim has a long history with the music industry, inking his first deal as a teen with Bullet Proof Souls of Nashville, TN. After one national album release the group soon disbanded.
As time passed Carolina Slim kept the dream alive when he joined forces with Bluffton, South Carolina’s Pumphouse Music. Together with Pumphouse Slim dropped several mixtapes around the Carolina’s and performed in various venues along with Pumphouse.
In 2010 Carolina Slim linked up with Pumphouse Member and 5StarPromotions CEO, Johnny “Da Jeneral” Mitchell to record several solo and collaborative projects. Together with Pumphouse Music Slim recorded and filmed an official video for “Fired Up”.
In May of 2010 Carolina Slim and Dr3d of Payaduez connected to record What We On”, a fun party jam just in time for summer. Watch for that official video filmed by Buck TV later this month. Listen To “What We On”

Trying to build your fan base but not sure where to start? It’s time to put more emphasis on the BUSINESS aspect of the MUSIC BUSINESS to gain new fans. Try alternative methods for amazing results.
First take into consideration how much money you’re spending on floss, gloss and image. Probably a whole lot. Now consider how much you are spending on marketing and promotion. Probably very little to none. Think about this. If you started a new business would you spend all of your start up cash on decorating the store without allowing and budget for advertising? That would be stupid right. You would have a great looking store without any customers.
Marketing and promotion for artists is no different than the marketing and promotion needed for any business. You can have the hottest tracks in the universe but without promotion who’s gonna hear em?
Your music is the product and the objective is to get as many consumers as possible exposed to your product.
If you are practicing the traditional means of urban promotion with flyers and handing out mixtapes without strong results think carefully before you repeat the process again.
Here’s why that method is the least likely to gain fans and establish your brand recognition. What do you do with mixtapes and flyers someone might hand you out in the street. Chances are that cd gets tossed into a purse, pocket or car somewhere. Some people may give it a listen in the car but for the most part all your time, creativity and money are tossed out like blunt guts.
Online advertising is not the wave of the future, it is the present. Right now over 75 million homes have high speed internet access in the US, that figure does not include schools, public internet cafes, or workplaces. Add to that the availability of internet access via smart phones and you have a whopping 73% of all Americans have daily internet access. Ask just about anyone where they hear new music and I bet Youtube, music related blogs, facebook or television will be named.
Why is it better to grab the attention of potential fans online rather than handing them your material face to face? Easy. People have short attention spans. You have 20 seconds to grab and hold someone’s attention. In the time it takes that potential fan to drive home, cook dinner, feed the kids or punch in for a workday, they have completely forgotten about you. The next time they clean out the car, guess where your hard work ended up?
Now here’s an example of great internet marketing using social networking. Yesterday an artist by the name of Mica Swain posted a teaser clip for her upcoming video “All BCuz”. The video player showed a “hot thumbnail” image that enticed me to click. Teaser is right, I was left wanting more more more….
In way less than 30 seconds I was clicking her profile, finding the link to download her mixtape all the while thinking that song better be on here. After a quick glance at the tracklist I was smiling and clicking download.
Now how did Mica Swain gain a fan in less than 30 seconds? Easy, she hit me with her promotional material right in my face, on my own facebook wall, a great visual made me look, a super high quality video from Mr. IFilm made me keep looking, a fire beat from Gav Beats and a great song from Mica had me hooked. Most important of all she hit me right there at my desk, speakers plugged in and ready to look, listen and download. Immediate gratification, everyone wants it!
By the way Mica you had me at “My swag is respectful, ugly and rude”.
Viral marketing and promotion through social media and video & blog submissions can be less expensive than that bottle of Rose you popped last night so think carefully about the dollars you’re spending on image and consider alternating your game plan.

Included in this video are groups signed to Roc Nation’s label (not to be confused with the roster of artists listed as managed by Roc Nation). Among the list quite obviously is J Cole and some you may not know of yet including Bridget Kelly, Rita Ora, Range (Star Roc), Alexis Jordan (Star Roc) and Hugo.
Now a lil’ breakdown on the artists that you might not yet know of…Okay I didn’t know all of these either so don’t feel bad….Starting with Hugo. Something very different but a whole lot of talent. Hugo offers a sexy mix of rock, soul and something that sounds a bit bluesy to my ears. Here’s a huge plug for one of his new songs “Bread and Butter”, a most interesting new product from Vicky’s, not sure if I ever want to see a non-Victoria’s Secret model in one of these but you gotta give em points for originality with this one.
The gorgeous Bridget Kelly is making a splash and can be seen performing “Empire State of Mind” with Jay Z at several venues. I was a bit shocked to see so many comments saying she did it better than Alicia, and while I can’t say I agree with that, she is a force to be reckoned with especially with the mighty Roc behind her.
Alexis Jordan, of Columbia SC is really breaking ground with her super soulful voice and sexy swagger.
Also listed is Range, most noteable for penning hits for Jamie Fox, Luda and T-Pain, the buzz from his upcoming album sounds pretty solid based on the feedback so far off this Rick Ross Collab but upon giving it a good listen I have to say, ummmm nah, u gotta come better than that coming from Roc Nation and with the Boss on here? Hmmmmmm, maybe it’s just me.
And then we have the lovely Rita Ora, who can be seen here in Drake’s vid
and I took it way back here because I simply like Craig David….
Keep watching Roc Nation, obviously a huge powerhouse of artists but lets see what comes of these artists and their careers over the coming months. Roc Nation has a history of sitting on em for a good while but with Young Money on the rise it’s time to stir up the pot some so let’s just see what the Roc is up to.

What is a Design Contest?
A Design contest is an event where someone who needs a design (called Contest Holder) is offering a prize to designers who are participating to create the design based on contest holder’s requirements. The contest holder will chose the winner(s) based on the best design, and the prize(s) will be awarded to the winner(s).
How does a Design Contest work?
Contest Holder will launch a contest, entering some information about the design that they require, set how long the contest will be held and pre-pay the prize(s).
Designers will submit their designs referring to the requirements of the contest.
Contest Holder can give ratings and feedbacks to alter the designs that they’re interested in, and the designers can revise their design according to the feedbacks.
Contest Holder will choose the best design(s) by nominating the designs then selecting the contest’s winner(s).
After the winner(s) are selected, the winner(s) should upload their design files to our system.
The Contest Holder will download the design files and if everything is correct they need to confirm that they have received the files.
When we received the confirmation from the contest holder, the prize will be released to the designers.
FOR CONTEST HOLDERS
How do I launch a contest?
Easy…You need to sign up at our site. After you have signed up, just follow the Launch Contest link and the instructions. Fill out the brief description of the design you need and the prize(s) that you are offering.
What is a guaranteed contest?
A Guaranteed contest is a contest where the contest holder decides to guarantee that they will choose a winner. A guaranteed contest is not a must, but we encourage you to do so because it will build the trust between you and the designers, and they will be more likely to participate in your contest. Guaranteed contests are not eligible for cancellation or refunds.
What is a private contest?
A Private contest is a contest that is hidden from Search Engines and is only accessible by registered members. This is useful when you want to launch a contest that is hidden from public.
How can I choose the contest winner(s)?
To choose the winner(s) of your contest you need to select Design Nominees first. To select design nominees, click on the Nominate link below the design thumbnail on your contest page, when that link changes to Denominate, it means that you have selected that design as one of your design nominees (if you want to denominate the design, simply click on Denominate link). After you select the design nominees, go to Design Nominees page by clicking on View Design Nominees, you will be able to select the winner(s) of your contest there.
When should I choose the winner(s)?
You can choose to declare a winner(s) during the contest or after the contest has ended (maximum 7 days after the contest ends). The contest will be immediately closed when you have chosen the winner(s).
What if the designer doesn’t upload the design files after I have selected the winner(s)?
We can’t think of a reason why they would not be ready to get that money, but if it happens please contact our support at admin@crackcovers.com, so we can sort out the issue. Your prize(s) are safe as they have not been transferred yet.

Shyne has given his first press conference to the media since being released from prison after nearly nine years and spoke on the lessons he has learned in his life.Promising to not make any excuses, Shyne took full responsibility for any wrongdoing he has done in the past.
“Nobody’s perfect,” Shyne explained during a press conference. “A lot of us grow up in imperfect situations as myself and our lives continue to be imperfect but there are no excuses. President Obama didn’t make excuses, Governor Paterson over there in New York who’s a blind man and first African American governor didn’t make excuses…I make no excuses, I hold myself accountable for the mistakes I’ve made in my life but that’s the end of me or anyone. You make mistakes and the point is to transform those mistakes and that’s what I’m trying to do…I make music about life.” (World Star Hip Hop)

Rapper Jamal “Shyne” Barrow was safely deported from the United States yesterday (October 28) and arrived in his country of origin, Belize, greeted by his father, Belize Prime Minster Dean Barrow.
Barrow arrived in Belize at 2:40 pm local time on a Continental flight from Houston escorted by a U.S. Marshall following his deportation from the U.S. after serving almost nine years in a New York penitentiary for his role in a nightclub shooting in New York city. The rapper was processed by local police authorities at the airport’s V.I.P. lounge after which he was welcomed by his father Dean Barrow, Prime Minister of Belize, his mother Imeon Myvett and other members of his family and well wishers. Shyne arrived wearing a Harvard Law School sweatshirt, a full head of hair, headphones wrapped around his neck and sporting tzitzis reflecting his conversion to Judaism while in jail. he government closed down the airport’s public waving gallery and attempted to prevent the local media from covering his arrival but enterprising T.V. cameramen managed to get some footage through a chain link fence of Shyne entering the V.I.P. lounge and later exiting the airport.
