Jay-Z and Alicia Keys – both of whom hail from New York – will perform “Empire State of Mind” before game 1 of the World Series on Wednesday at Yankee Stadium, People reports. Keys will then perform the National Anthem.
The New York Yankees will face off against the Philadelphia Phillies in the World Series, which will air on Fox (7:30 p.m. ET).

There has been a lot of hoopla surrounding Alicia Keys and Jay-Z’s rumored performance before the first MLB World Series game tomorrow night but according to Ohio State University’s newspaper The Lantern Jay will fulfill his performance obligation in Columbus, Ohio the same night.
It was originally believed that Jay would make both appearances but John Vlautin from Live Nation Worldwide, Inc., the company representing Jay-Z, told The Lantern that Jay-Z will be performing at the Schottenstein Center and that he will perform in New York on Thursday, depending on the weather.
However Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 tour is scheduled to hit London, Ontario Canada on Thursday the 29th. It looks like this whole World Series performance might not be happening.
